Power Integrations CAPZero-4 Cuts Standby Power Losses

Power Integrations introduces CAPZero-4, its fourth-generation X-capacitor discharge IC family for appliances, displays, adapters, and industrial power supplies. By disconnecting discharge resistors while AC power is present and reconnecting them when equipment is unplugged, CAPZero-4 can reduce system standby and no-load input power by up to one watt. The IC consumes less than 0.75 mW at 230 VAC, supports X-capacitance values from 100 nF to 6 µF, and operates from −40°C to +125°C. Pin and package compatibility with CAPZero-3 simplifies migration.
